The Royal Mint's Britannia series was first introduced in 1987 and has remained one of the most popular coin series in the world. While the design of the Britannia coins has changed slightly over the years, they all feature a statue of Britannia standing on a stone with a trident in her hand. The coins also feature the word 'Britannia' and the year of mintage. The Britannia coin series is highly prized by collectors.
The obverse shows a portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. The portrait is framed by the words 'CHARLES III-D.G-REX-F.D'.
In addition to the classic design, it now includes security features including surface animation, tincture lines and microtext.
